The pleasure of to ski on the Marmolada
White as cream, as beautiful as any
Skiing on the Marmolada in Val Pettorina is one of the greatest winter pleasures that the Dolomites can offer, an experience that never tires.
In addition to being the most scenic ski area in the area, the Marmolada Ski Area is part of the Dolomiti Superski: 12 ski areas with a total of 1,200 kilometers of slopes with guaranteed snow . That’s not all: connections with the Arabba ski area and the Padon chairlift give convenient access to the legendary Sellaronda, the ski tour around the Sella massif that stretches 40 panoramic kilometers.
Tasting and skiing: the Marmolada from the Pineta Pastry Hotel
In winter, the Pineta Pastry Hotel is an excellent starting point for skiing on the Marmolada in Val Pettorina, because it is only 5 minutes from the Malga Ciapela ski lifts and 10 minutes from the Ski Civetta lifts. Furthermore, the public ski bus stop is right in front of the hotel.
12 minutes : this is how long it takes the ultra-modern Malga Ciapela cable car to go up to Punta Rocca, at 3,269 meters above sea level. Once up there, you can only be breathless admiring the panorama that sweeps from the mountains to the valleys until you reach, on the clearest days, the Lido of Venice .
A few minutes to wake up from the enchantment and then off you go, you can go wild on the slopes of the Marmolada Ski Area. From here you whiz downhill along the Marmolada glacier , on the famous “ La Bellunese ” slope which with its 12 km is the longest slope in all the Dolomites and, according to experts, also the most beautiful.
In addition to the Belluno area, the Marmolada Ski Area also offers a variety of well-groomed and always snow -covered slopes, suitable for all ages and levels of preparation.
Learn to ski on the marmolada ... having fun!
The Marmolada Ski Area is also an ideal destination for those who spend their winter holidays with the family , because it offers numerous services dedicated to children.
Those who want to learn to ski on the Marmolada can rely on the Marmolada Ski School , which organizes group courses and individual lessons for beginners of all ages, as well as a series of other activities such as excursions, competitions, torchlight processions, snowboard lessons and more.
Not just skiing: the Marmolada off the slopes
You don’t need to be a downhill enthusiast to enjoy the Marmolada and Val Pettorina: between cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, telemarking and ice climbing, everyone can experience the winter magic of the Dolomites as they prefer.
From the Malga Ciapela campsite there are three cross-country skiing trails , one easy of 2.5 km, one of medium difficulty and one technically demanding of 7.5 km.
Of course there are also snowshoe trails, particularly suitable for those who want to savor the quiet of sleeping nature and maybe meet some roe deer along the way.
And if the snow and ice cannot cool the “hot spirits” of the more adventurous, just take a trip to the Serrai di Sottoguda (temporarily closed): the waterfalls, frozen by the cold touch of winter, turn into exciting walls of perfect ice for ice climbing !
